You will need

  • An updated Arma Reforger client
  • The server name or address, if you are checking one server
  • Server panel access, if you own it

An Arma Reforger server status error does not tell you by itself whether Bohemia’s services, one dedicated server, or your connection is responsible. Check the game’s Service States, compare what another player can see, and then inspect the server’s branch, mods, and owner-side logs. That quick comparison narrows the next step without asking you to reinstall the game or delete a working mod library.

Check Arma Reforger server status right now#

Open the game’s Service States screen and refresh it. Look at the multiplayer/backend and Workshop indicators, then try the server browser again. These are useful signals from your client; they are not a promise that every Bohemia service or community server is healthy.

Bohemia’s support FAQ explains common backend and Workshop download errors and links to its known issues page. The official Reforger news page is where to look for dated update and incident notices. The official support and news pages we checked do not provide a public live dashboard for every service, so an “online” status on a community tracker cannot settle the cause.

Check the same screen again after a minute and note the time, platform, and exact message. If Service States changes when you refresh, that is evidence about your client’s connection to the service, not proof that a particular server is down. If it stays green while one community server is missing, move to the server-specific checks below.

Is the problem Bohemia, the server, or your connection?#

Compare how many people and servers are affected before changing anything. Bohemia says backend errors during mod downloads can also come from an interrupted download or local cache; server visibility can vary by filters, platform, ping limits, region, and crossplay settings. A single error message is not a diagnosis.

What you see Check next What it suggests
Several players on different platforms cannot load multiplayer or Workshop Refresh Service States and check official notices and known issues A wider service or network problem is possible; corroborate it before calling it an outage
One community server is missing, but other servers appear Ask the owner to check the server process, client/server branch, browser filters, and crossplay setting The issue may be limited to that server or its visibility
Friends can join, but one player cannot Compare that player’s branch, required mods, platform filters, console storage, and connection Focus on the affected client or platform first
The server appears, but every player fails to connect Ask the owner to check current server logs and, for self-hosting, public address and UDP forwarding Registration or listing does not prove that players can reach the process

Bohemia lists several possible causes for connection failures, including a different game version, required add-ons, firewalls, and other network obstacles. Its FAQ also says disconnections can result from connection stability, server performance, or mods. Use the scope of the failure to choose the next check; don’t label every red indicator a global Bohemia outage.

Check the owner’s server process and current logs#

If you own the server, compare its process state with what the affected players see. A server panel can show whether the process is running and when it last started; the current Game Hosting panel also provides a console and a Reforger Logs shortcut under Files. Those views help you check startup and recent errors, but a running process does not prove a complete client connection.

Check the current log after reproducing the issue and record its timestamp. Look for whether the server has started successfully, whether it reports a configuration or mod error, and whether the message repeats when a player tries to join. Share the relevant lines with your host or Bohemia Support instead of posting passwords or a complete configuration file.

If the process stopped, the owner should inspect the actual startup error first. Reforger validates its JSON server configuration, and a bad value can stop startup; backend loss is only one possible cause. If the process remains running but every player cannot reach it, the owner can compare its public address and network path with Bohemia’s server configuration reference. The public game port is UDP 2001 by default; RCON and A2S ports are optional and are not substitutes for the game port.

A listing or “registered” message is only one milestone. Have someone test the actual server from the same platform and branch as the group before treating the connection as restored.

Match the stable and Experimental builds#

Compare the full client and server versions before changing ports. As of October 10, 2026, the latest stable update listed by Bohemia is 1.8.0.13, released September 3. Its latest news entry for Experimental is 1.9.0.10, released September 22 for the Steam and Xbox Experimental applications. Check the official news index for newer updates before acting on these dated examples.

Experimental is a separate development branch with its own app and compatibility track. A stable client cannot join an Experimental server, and an Experimental client should not be sent to a stable server as a troubleshooting fix. Bohemia’s Experimental branch reference explains the separation. The current Experimental release notes list Steam and Xbox apps, not a PlayStation Experimental app.

Ask the owner which branch and build the server runs, then compare that with the version shown by each player. If only one person is behind, update that client through its platform. If all clients have the same version but one server differs, the owner needs to update the server or select the matching branch. A port change will not fix a branch mismatch.

Check crossplay, filters, mods, and console storage#

For the main release, PC, Xbox, and PS5 players can join together when the server allows cross-platform clients. A server configured for PC only will not admit console players. Bohemia’s server configuration guide documents the cross-platform setting; its support FAQ also lists filters, platform restrictions, ping, region, and crossplay as reasons friends may see different server lists.

If the server requires mods, confirm that the client finished downloading the required versions. The Bohemia Workshop guide explains how Workshop content is delivered and why console downloads can take longer. Official materials give the PS5 mod allocation as 25 GB and Xbox’s as up to 50 GB. These are platform storage allocations, not a promise that all that space is free on a player’s console.

If the failure is limited to… Compare these first
Xbox or PS5 players Main release versus Experimental, crossplay enabled, required mods, and available console storage
One PC player Client build, Workshop download completion, selected server filters, and whether other PC players can join
Every player on one server Owner’s process state, current console/log output, branch, and server configuration

Do not assume every mod or version is compatible with every platform. Check the mod’s current Workshop entry and the server’s required list. If a download is still progressing, let it finish before trying again; repeatedly restarting it can make a partial download harder to diagnose.

Change one thing at a time, and protect your files#

Start with checks that do not remove data: refresh Service States, compare with another player, clear restrictive server-browser filters, verify the client and server branch, and confirm required mods have finished downloading. Record the original error and change one setting at a time so you can tell which step mattered.

The Reforger server setting operating.disableServerShutdown has a narrow purpose. Bohemia documents it as false by default; when enabled, it prevents automatic shutdown for certain backend connection losses tied to room-request errors. It does not keep a server alive through every problem, and it will not restore Bohemia’s service or repair a corrupted configuration. Treat it as a server-owner setting to understand, not a first-line fix for a player’s connection.

For a self-hosted server that is listed but unreachable, the owner can review the public address and UDP game port in the official config reference. Change them only if the server’s actual configuration and network path point there. The optional A2S or RCON port is not the player connection port.

Know who to contact and what to include#

Send the evidence to the person who can act on the affected part. Contact the server owner or host when one server’s process, configuration, or network path is implicated. Contact Bohemia Support for a persistent client-side service error, especially when it happens across servers; include the time and time zone, platform, full game version, Service States result, and the exact message. If more than one player is affected, ask each person for those same details.

Wait and recheck when several independent players see the same service problem and official notices or in-game service indicators support that conclusion. A user-report tracker can show that other people are reporting symptoms, but it cannot identify whether Bohemia, one server owner, or a player’s connection is responsible. Don’t pay a host to solve a client-side fault or an official service problem.

If the recurring issue is your own PC, router, or home connection, a managed Arma Reforger server can remove that part of the setup. It still depends on Reforger’s services, the correct branch and crossplay settings, and each player’s connection. If you are still comparing providers, use our Arma Reforger server hosting checklist. Compare the Arma Reforger hosting options only when moving the server off the home setup addresses the problem you found.

Quick answers

Is Arma Reforger down right now?

This guide does not have a live status feed. Check Service States in the game, then compare it with current Bohemia support notices and whether other players on another platform see the same issue.

Why can’t I join any Arma Reforger server?

A backend issue is one possibility, but client version, required mods, crossplay settings, browser filters, local storage, and connection problems can also stop a join.

Does my server go offline when Bohemia’s servers are down?

The Reforger setting operating.disableServerShutdown can prevent shutdown for a narrow class of backend room-request errors. It does not prevent shutdown for every failure or repair the backend.

Can PC, Xbox, and PS5 play together on an Arma Reforger server?

Yes, on the main release when the server allows cross-platform clients. Experimental is a separate branch, so its clients and servers must match.
