What is DayZ Badlands?#
DayZ Badlands is a downloadable expansion for the Steam version of DayZ, not a separate standalone game. Its new official terrain is Nasdara, which Steam describes as a 267 km² arid borderland. Those are the current store-page facts; the map is still upcoming on October 9, so screenshots and creator previews do not prove that the public build is available.
Bohemia’s Badlands store listing describes the expansion as a new desert terrain. Its release announcement introduces Badlands and identifies Nasdara as part of the expansion. Treat the announced map and release information as product details, not as confirmation that a particular community host already supports the terrain.

When does DayZ Badlands release?#
Bohemia’s current announcement schedules Badlands for October 15, 2026 on PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. The official Badlands FAQ names those platforms, while the Steam listing says the expansion is planned for October 15. Recheck the official news feed if you are reading this close to or after that date; a planned date can change.
Creator preview footage is not a public launch. Bohemia’s Creator Program describes advance access for accepted creators, with an embargo before release. A stream or video published ahead of October 15 can show the expansion without making it available to every player. Look for the public Steam, Xbox, or PlayStation product status and Bohemia’s release notice before treating the map as live.
Badlands arriving on several platforms does not make them one shared server pool. DayZ’s official platform FAQ explains that the editions have separate platform ecosystems. How much does DayZ Badlands cost?#
Bohemia announced an approximate price of $24.99, with regional pricing. That is a studio estimate, not a guaranteed final US checkout total. The October 2 price announcement is the source for the approximate figure; check the relevant store for its current price and currency when the expansion is available.
Steam identifies Badlands as downloadable content and says that the Steam base game is required. That answers one part of the purchase question: the Steam listing is an add-on for DayZ. It does not answer whether every player must separately own Badlands to connect to a community server running Nasdara, whether a server operator needs the add-on, or how the dedicated-server files handle the map. Those are different access questions, and the sources reviewed as of October 9 do not settle them.
Do not use Frostline as proof of a Badlands rule. Bohemia’s Frostline release announcement documents that players need Frostline to access Sakhal servers, but the Badlands entitlement could be different. Wait for a Badlands-specific official answer instead of applying another expansion’s rule by analogy.
Is DayZ Badlands out yet?#
No. On October 9, the public release was still scheduled for October 15. Early-access videos, a creator preview, a wishlist page, and an experimental test build are not the same as the public Badlands release.
Use the DayZ Steam news feed and the platform store for the edition you play. Confirm the date, stable game version, and expansion status there. What does 1.30 mean for DayZ server owners?#
As of October 9, 1.29 is the latest announced stable release, and 1.30 is in PC Experimental. Bohemia announced 1.29 Stable on April 8 and opened 1.30 Experimental on September 16. The 1.30 Experimental release notice calls it a test branch and warns that animation-related mods may have problems as the animation systems change.
That matters to a community operator because “Badlands is scheduled with 1.30” does not make the experimental build a safe replacement for a live server. Experimental can change while it is being tested, and individual mod authors control compatibility for their own work. Check the exact stable announcement, the server provider’s version options, and each mod author’s current notes before planning a change. This guide does not name a compatible mod stack or claim that a specific provider can run Nasdara.

Use this short check before planning any migration:
- Read the official stable-release notice and confirm the server build you intend to run. An Experimental announcement is not a stable update instruction.
- Confirm that your provider has published a working Nasdara option for the edition you use. A map appearing in a game announcement does not add it to a host’s control panel.
- Get the official rule for player access and DLC entitlement. Do not assume that the server owner’s purchase requirement is the same as the player’s join requirement.
- Before any map switch or wipe, identify the exact world and storage data the operation affects. Confirm a backup exists and that its restore procedure is documented for that panel.
- Ask what remains after the change: map persistence, characters, bases, vehicles, and other data may not share one reset scope.
