You will need

  • Know whether each player uses PC Steam, PC Epic, Xbox, or PlayStation
  • Console players need Epic accounts linked for console multiplayer

Is Satisfactory crossplay? Yes between Steam and Epic on PC, and between Xbox and PlayStation on console. PC and console players cannot join the same session. A dedicated server does not bridge that split, so check everyone’s platform before you buy the game, invite a friend, or look at hosting. The table below shows which groups can share a factory, what account setup they need, and when a server is even an option.

Check which Satisfactory platforms can join the same session#

Satisfactory crossplay works across the two PC stores and across the two console families, but not between PC and console. Use this matrix before you start a world:

Players Can they play together? What the group uses
PC on Steam + PC on Epic Yes Join through a session ID, or link Epic accounts to find Epic friends in-game.
Xbox Series X|S + PlayStation 5 Yes Console co-op with Epic accounts linked in Online Settings; console sessions have a 4-player maximum.
PC on Steam or Epic + Xbox or PlayStation No The platforms are separate multiplayer ecosystems.
Xbox or PlayStation + a dedicated server No Consoles cannot join Satisfactory dedicated servers.

The first two rows are crossplay within a platform family. They do not mean all four stores and consoles share one online system. Coffee Stain’s official support FAQ confirms Steam–Epic PC play and Xbox–PlayStation console crossplay. Its dedicated-server guide says dedicated servers are for PC, while the FAQ directly says consoles cannot join them.

The four-player limit in the console row applies to console co-op. Do not treat it as the PC server limit, and do not infer that a PC server can invite a console player. If someone is on a different family, the next section explains why changing the host or account does not make the platforms compatible.

Know where the PC-console split comes from#

Satisfactory does not support PC-to-console crossplay under Coffee Stain’s current published policy. The official FAQ says the studio keeps the console and PC ecosystems separate so console players can rely on a stable, consistent factory experience.

That is a platform rule, not a port or invite problem. Linking an Epic account can help players find friends across supported platforms, but it does not turn a PC session into a console session. The same is true of a rented dedicated server: it can host a PC group, but it cannot add Xbox or PlayStation clients. There is no server setting, crossplay switch, or PC/console invitation workaround to recommend.

Experimental is a PC testing branch, not a bridge between the ecosystems. Choosing it does not let a PC player enter a console world. If a group is trying to solve a “friend not showing up” problem, first compare the platforms in the table, then check account linking only when the pair is Steam–Epic or Xbox–PlayStation.

Because this policy can change only if Coffee Stain changes the game, check its current Console FAQ before making plans based on an old forum post or a host page that uses the broad word “crossplay.” The FAQ was checked for this guide on October 7, 2026.

Join an Xbox and PlayStation group#

Xbox and PlayStation players can join each other’s console-hosted multiplayer sessions. Each person needs an Epic account for console multiplayer, and both players need to link their accounts and connect as Epic friends before looking for the session.

  1. Link the Epic account

In Satisfactory, open Online Settings and link the Epic account you use for multiplayer. Do this on both consoles.

  2. Add each other on Epic

Add your friend through Epic’s friends list. A platform friends list by itself may not be enough for cross-platform console play.

  3. Find the hosted session

Open Join Game and look for your friend’s cross-play session. If it does not appear, check the profile privacy settings that let other players view it.

The official console FAQ gives this account-linking path and says console crossplay is available between PlayStation and Xbox. The official wiki’s console release notes state that console crossplay has a 4-player maximum per session. Keep that number scoped to consoles; the PC release has its own multiplayer and server options. For a PS5-specific overview of split screen, mods, saves and the PC boundary, read our Satisfactory on PS5 guide.

A console group uses co-op hosted from a console. Do not rent a dedicated server for an Xbox-and-PlayStation group: the FAQ says consoles cannot join one. If your group is all on PC instead, Steam and Epic have a separate route.

Play together on Steam and Epic for PC#

Steam and Epic players can share a PC session. Coffee Stain lists two ways to connect: join by session ID, or link an Epic account so Epic friends appear in the in-game friends list.

  1. Choose how to find the session

Use the session ID when the host shares it directly, or link an Epic account if you want to find Epic friends from the game’s friends list.

  2. Join the same PC session

Open Join Game and use the invitation, friends list, or session ID path the host chose. The store where each PC player bought the game does not have to match.

This store pairing also works on a PC dedicated server. The official dedicated-server guide says players from both the Epic and Steam PC releases can connect regardless of which store supplied the server files. That gives a PC group a persistent world option when a player-hosted session no longer fits; it does not expand the server to consoles.

Mods use the same PC-only boundary: a dedicated server can run compatible server builds for a Steam and Epic PC group, while consoles cannot join it. See how Satisfactory mods work on a dedicated server before choosing a mod list.

If a Steam player cannot find an Epic friend, check whether they are using a session ID or have linked the right Epic account. Do not assume account linking is required for every PC crossplay session: Coffee Stain’s FAQ explicitly includes session IDs as another way to join. For provider and plan details after confirming the whole group is on PC, use our Satisfactory host checklist.

Choose a route for a mixed household#

A household with one PC player and one console player cannot share a Satisfactory multiplayer session today. That remains true if the PC copy is on Epic, if both people have Epic accounts, or if the PC player rents a dedicated server. The platform boundary is the deciding factor; a server does not convert one ecosystem into the other.

The practical choice is to play on the same supported side for a shared factory, or keep separate worlds on PC and console. If the console players in your home are on Xbox and PlayStation, they can play together with console crossplay. If the PC players are on Steam and Epic, they can play together on PC. A mixed PC-console pair needs to choose one of those groups for the session rather than trying to invite everyone into one world.

This is also why you should read the exact platform claim on a hosting page. “Crossplay” might mean Steam with Epic, or Xbox with PlayStation. Neither phrase means PC players can join a console session. When the whole group is on PC, a dedicated server may help with availability; when the group includes a console player, it does not solve the shared-session problem.

Pick the next step for your group#

Choose by the platforms everyone actually uses:

  • All players use PC on Steam or Epic: you can play together. A dedicated server is an option if you want the world to keep running without one player hosting from their game. Game Hosting’s Satisfactory service supports PC players on Steam and Epic only; consoles cannot join it. If that fits your group, compare the Satisfactory server plans after checking the host and save requirements.
  • Everyone is on Xbox and/or PlayStation: use console co-op and link Epic accounts for cross-console play. A dedicated server is not an option for this group.
  • The group mixes PC and console: one shared factory is not supported. Decide which platform family will play together, or keep separate sessions.

For the Xbox-specific release, Game Pass and console limits, read Satisfactory on Xbox explained.

Before inviting the group, ask each person which platform they play on and mark the row that matches. If every player fits one of the compatible pairs, follow the account steps for that pair. If not, decide on a platform before moving a save or paying for a server. A hosting plan cannot remove the game’s PC-console boundary.
