You will need

  • Satisfactory for PlayStation 5
  • An Epic Games account for online multiplayer

Yes, Satisfactory is available on PS5, but PS5 players cannot join PC multiplayer or a dedicated server. The PS5 version supports online co-op with Xbox, and both console players need an Epic Games account for multiplayer. Before you start a factory with friends, check whether everyone is on PlayStation or Xbox, PC, or a mix; Satisfactory keeps console and PC multiplayer separate.

Confirm what Satisfactory on PS5 can do#

Satisfactory launched for PS5 on November 4, 2025. Its console version has online co-op, but it does not share every PC feature. Coffee Stain’s support FAQ confirms console crossplay with Xbox, while keeping PC and console in separate multiplayer ecosystems. The PlayStation Store listing lists a four-player online limit and PlayStation Plus for online play.

The last major version, 1.2, became Stable on PC and consoles on the same date, June 2, 2026. As of October 12, the Official Satisfactory Wiki lists PC Stable and Experimental at 1.2.4.1, CL 513885. That day’s patch notes include a fix for an audio-related freeze on consoles. Experimental remains a PC-only branch, so there is no Experimental option on PS5. A current public patch note does not tell you which update is installed on a particular console; check for game updates on the PS5 itself if a friend cannot connect.

That distinction is useful when you search for help. A PC setup guide may refer to a server, mods or Experimental, none of which turns a PS5 copy into a PC copy. Start with the platform rules below before changing a world or following a PC tutorial.

Use an Epic account for PS5 multiplayer#

Console multiplayer requires an Epic Games account, whether you are joining a PlayStation friend or an Xbox player. For crossplay between PS5 and Xbox, link the account from Satisfactory’s Online Settings, add your friend through Epic, then look for their session in Join Game. Coffee Stain lists those steps in its console FAQ.

  1. Link Epic in the game

Open Online Settings on each console and sign in to or create the Epic Games account that player will use for multiplayer.

  2. Add your friend on Epic

Make sure the PS5 and Xbox players are friends through Epic. A console friends list alone may not be enough for cross-platform discovery.

  3. Find the session

Open Join Game and look for the host’s crossplay session. If it does not appear, check that both accounts are linked and that privacy settings allow other players to view the profile.

The PlayStation Store lists a four-player online limit with PlayStation Plus. That is the console co-op limit; do not use it to infer anything about PC server capacity. If you are comparing all the supported platform pairings, see the Satisfactory crossplay table.

Check who can play together#

Satisfactory crossplay works inside each platform family, not between consoles and PC. Use this table before choosing who starts the world:

Players Can they share a session? What to know
PS5 + PS5 Yes Console online co-op; an Epic account is required for multiplayer.
PS5 + Xbox Series X|S Yes Console crossplay; link Epic accounts and add each other as Epic friends.
PC Steam + PC Epic Yes PC players can join through the supported PC multiplayer routes.
PS5 + PC Steam or Epic No Coffee Stain keeps console and PC multiplayer separate.
PS5 + a dedicated server No Satisfactory dedicated servers are for PC; consoles cannot join them.

If an invite is missing, first compare platform families. An Epic account can help a PS5 player find an Xbox friend, but it does not bridge to a PC session. Our crossplay guide covers the wider Steam, Epic, Xbox and PlayStation matrix.

A rented or home dedicated server does not change the rule. It can host a PC group, but it cannot make a PS5 client compatible or combine a console-hosted world with PC players. If your group includes both PS5 and PC, decide which platform family will play together or keep separate worlds; do not troubleshoot ports or account linking as if that would unlock PC-to-console play.

Know which PC features PS5 does not have#

Three common PC options are not available on PS5: dedicated servers, mods and the Experimental branch. Coffee Stain’s support FAQ says consoles cannot join dedicated servers and will remain separate from PC. The Official Satisfactory Wiki’s console reference marks Experimental as PC-only. The Satisfactory Modding project’s FAQ says its mods do not work on console.

Feature PS5 PC
Dedicated server Cannot join one Available for PC players
Experimental branch Not available Optional PC testing branch
Community mods Not available on console Available for supported PC builds

This matters if you see a host page or mod guide that mentions Satisfactory. That offer may be for a PC server, and a mod that runs on PC is not a PS5 add-on. Even an Xbox friend cannot use a PC dedicated server: Xbox’s crossplay path is with PlayStation, not with PC.

If the people you want in the same factory are on PS5 and Xbox, use console co-op. If everyone is on PC and wants a persistent world, then a dedicated server is a separate option. Those are different group choices, not settings you can toggle to combine platforms.

Keep PS5 and PC saves separate#

A Satisfactory save from a console does not transfer to the PC version, and a PC save does not transfer to PS5. Coffee Stain’s console Q&A and the Official Satisfactory Wiki describe the console and desktop save systems as separate.

Treat the PS5 factory and a PC factory as different worlds. Do not start a console save expecting to upload it later to a PC dedicated server, or delete a PC copy because you assume the console version has loaded it. Keep your normal console cloud recovery separate from cross-platform transfer; the no-transfer rule is about moving a Satisfactory save between console and desktop, not a statement about how PlayStation cloud saves work.

If someone in your group owns both versions, choose one shared platform family before investing time in a world. PS5 and Xbox can share console multiplayer; PC Steam and Epic can share PC multiplayer. The save boundary is another reason to settle that choice early rather than planning to move the same factory back and forth.

Plan around the missing split screen#

Satisfactory has no couch co-op or split-screen mode. Coffee Stain says the game was designed around a single viewport, and its support FAQ answers no to split screen. Two people with two controllers on one PS5 cannot use that setup to build in the same local session.

For online console play, players need an Epic Games account for multiplayer. Sony’s store lists a four-player online limit with PlayStation Plus. That is online co-op, not a local shared-screen option. If your plan depends on playing side by side on one screen, choose another setup before you buy a second controller or troubleshoot a missing invite.

The current PS5 controller supports ordinary gameplay, but don’t assume you can remap every button: Coffee Stain’s FAQ says custom button bindings are not available at the time of its published console guidance. Recheck the FAQ if controller options are central to your decision, since the studio says it is working on that feature.

Choose the route that fits everyone in your group#

Pick the route by who needs to play in one factory:

  • Only PS5 players: use console-hosted online co-op with Epic accounts. The game has no dedicated-server option for this group.
  • PS5 and Xbox players: console crossplay works after the players link Epic accounts and add each other as Epic friends.
  • PS5 and PC players: they cannot share one Satisfactory session. Pick a console group or a PC group, or keep separate factories.
  • Everyone plays on PC: Steam and Epic players can play together. If that group wants a persistent world without relying on one friend’s game session, read what to look for in a private Satisfactory server—that route is for PC players, not PS5.

For the common console crossplay problem, confirm Epic linking, friend status and privacy settings first. For PC-only server questions, follow a PC-specific guide and check the game version and save before making a change. The platform split is the deciding fact; a server, mod or Experimental setting cannot remove it.
