You will need

  • Your crew's usual player count and platforms
  • A monthly budget and acceptable renewal terms
  • The exact server and client mod list, if any
  • An independent copy of the current world and a named recovery owner

Shockbyte vs BisectHosting for Valheim is not a clean price verdict today: Shockbyte publishes monthly tiers, while BisectHosting’s selector currently leaves the price blank and displays “Out of stock.” For managed Valheim hosting, we recommend Game Hosting as a third option to investigate because its plans document named hardware, an integrated control panel, and backup scheduling, download, restore and lock controls. That is a feature-based recommendation, not a claim that we tested a restore or that any host ran better. Below, compare what the two providers publish, what remains unknown, and what to ask before moving a shared world.

This is a dated review of public pages and terms checked October 8, 2026. We did not buy either service, submit a checkout, contact support as customers, install mods, join a server, benchmark performance or restore a world. A feature described on a page is useful evidence about the offer; it is not a measured result. Prices, locations and stock can change, so reopen the provider’s current quote before paying.

If your crew has not agreed on platforms, schedule and who owns the world, start with our Valheim hosting buyer worksheet. For a wider shortlist beyond this pair, see our comparison of four Valheim hosting offers.

Shockbyte vs BisectHosting for Valheim: compare today’s quote first#

Shockbyte currently lists three monthly Valheim plans in US dollars: Eikthyr is 3 GB for a suggested 4 players at $9.99; Bonemass is 4 GB for 7 players at $12.99; and Yagluth is 6 GB or more for 10 players at $16.99. The page labels Bonemass “Most Popular.” These are advertised monthly prices, not submitted checkout totals. The page also advertises 10% off quarterly and 25% off annually; those longer terms change the commitment and should not be compared with one month as if they were equivalent.

BisectHosting’s current Valheim offer page describes its features, but its prices are rendered as “… / GB.” Its Valheim selector also showed a blank price and an “Out of stock” message alongside an option to transfer an existing server when checked on October 8. That is the state of the selector we observed, not proof that every region or every customer is unable to buy. We could not verify a current monthly total, selected memory amount or available US location, so a same-size price comparison is not possible.

What to compare Shockbyte, observed Oct. 8 BisectHosting, observed Oct. 8
Monthly price shown $9.99 / $12.99 / $16.99 No numeric price rendered
Memory and player label 3 GB / 4 players; 4 GB / 7; 6 GB+ / 10 Selector did not expose a selected amount
Longer billing advertised Quarterly 10% off; annual 25% off Current Valheim offer page did not render a usable total
Availability evidence Public plan cards visible Selector displayed “Out of stock”; region-specific status unknown

Treat the table as a snapshot, not a quote. For either provider, ask for the monthly amount due today and at renewal, billing currency, taxes, selected location, memory and other resource limits, plus the cancellation route. If BisectHosting still cannot return a quote for the location you need, keep that candidate pending instead of reusing an older price from another review.

Compare renewal and cancellation terms separately#

An introductory discount can lower the first bill while leaving renewal or cancellation conditions unchanged. Shockbyte advertises quarterly and annual discounts, but the final amount, tax treatment and renewal total were not confirmed at checkout. Its terms of service, updated August 28, 2026, say an unpaid service has a one-day grace period before suspension and may be deleted after 30 days. The terms describe optional scheduled payments as adding account credit; they do not establish that a Valheim service automatically renews. Read the current account flow before relying on a particular payment setup.

Shockbyte’s terms also describe a one-time refund request for eligible new monthly plans within 72 hours, subject to conditions; renewed services are excluded from that 72-hour policy. The cancellation flow or support may be required depending on account eligibility. Do not treat a refund policy as a risk-free trial or assume it covers every plan.

BisectHosting’s terms, updated August 11, say recurring services auto-renew unless canceled and that invoices are issued at least seven days before the due date. Taxes may be added at checkout. Its new-customer 72-hour guarantee requires a support request and has exceptions; renewal refund conditions are separate. Confirm the exact current terms for the Valheim service and billing period before starting a subscription.

For a fair decision, record four values side by side: the first charge, the recurring renewal amount, any tax or add-on, and when access ends after cancellation. If one provider gives only a discount percentage or a price-per-GB placeholder, that is not yet a comparable total. Keep a reminder before the renewal date and export the world while you still have access.

For a worksheet focused on due-today totals, the exact renewal interval and world-file ownership, see the Valheim hosting renewal price audit.

Compare the backup controls each provider documents#

Shockbyte advertises automatic backups on its Valheim page, but that page does not specify the game’s retention window, how many copies are available, whether you can download one, or the exact restore steps. Its terms set an account backup limit of three copies and 15 GB total. That is a quota across the account, not a Valheim-specific retention promise. Ask how often the world is copied, how long each copy remains available, whether the copy can be downloaded, and who can restore it.

BisectHosting advertises three days of free server backups for Valheim. Its Backup Manager guide documents manual and scheduled backups, selecting files, downloading, and restore controls. Those details make the documented workflow easier to inspect, but they do not prove that a particular Valheim world restored successfully. The terms also describe backups as best-effort; keep an independent copy of the campaign.

The units here are different: a day-based retention statement is not the same thing as a maximum number of stored files. Game Hosting documents three free backup slots with scheduling, download, restore and lock controls, and one newest copy is copied off-site daily. That is another control set to evaluate if you prefer an integrated panel; it is not evidence of more retention or a successful recovery compared with either competitor.

Before migrating, preserve the current world outside the host. Then ask each candidate to explain how to restore an older world into a safe destination, whether a second crew member can access the control, and whether the exported files are usable elsewhere. A successful test on a disposable copy is the evidence that answers “can we recover?” This review did not perform that test.

Check crossplay and mods against your actual crew#

Both providers advertise crossplay for Valheim, and both name mod-related features. Shockbyte advertises BepInEx and ValheimPlus support; BisectHosting describes integrated BepInEx and a custom modpack installer. These labels tell you what the providers say they support. They do not confirm that a particular plugin version, dependency set, console player or game update will work with your campaign.

Iron Gate’s Valheim 1.0 FAQ sets the vanilla player range at 1–10, says there is no official mod support, and notes that console mods are unsupported. Its dedicated-server guide explains the Steam and -crossplay server backends; crossplay uses a PlayFab relay and avoids router port forwarding, but does not make every client and build automatically compatible.

The latest official notice we found, Patch 1.0.17, is dated October 6, 2026. It says crossplay remains functional during the staggered platform rollout and fixes a rare issue that could erase objects in parts of a large world save. That is current game-side information, not a join test on either provider. Before moving, ask which backend the service uses, which platforms and game builds are currently supported, and whether your exact mods need matching client-side files. Then test one player from every required platform on a protected world.

If the crew is vanilla, compare the advertised player guidance with the game’s 10-player cap and expected simultaneous group. If it is modded, send both support teams the same mod names, versions and dependencies. Ask who updates the server files, how you can pin a version, and whether the mod list can be exported. Do not infer compatibility from a generic “mod support” badge.

Compare regions and resource limits without guessing#

Shockbyte’s current page says it offers global locations, but the offer we reviewed did not give a Valheim-specific location list or stock by region. BisectHosting advertises 21 locations on its Valheim page, but its selector was showing out of stock and did not reveal a usable US quote. A global count cannot tell you which region is selectable for your account today. Check the exact city or region and the expected network route for the friends who play there.

Shockbyte publishes RAM and suggested player labels for its tiers, but we did not find a Valheim per-plan CPU allocation or a complete workload limit on the offer page. The current BisectHosting selector exposed no selected memory or CPU details. That leaves neither page with enough comparable resource evidence to predict performance for a particular world. More memory or a higher player label is not a measured speed result.

Valheim’s player count, world size, mods and activity all affect the workload. Describe the same scenario to each provider: number of simultaneous players, whether the world is established, the mod list, and the region. Ask what resources the quoted plan includes and how the provider would diagnose a busy-session problem. For guidance on sizing inputs, see our Valheim server requirements worksheet; it separates a plan label from a measured result.

Choose one to investigate or leave the comparison pending#

Shockbyte is the only one of these two offers with a visible monthly price and RAM/player labels in the pages checked today. That makes it easier to start a quote, not automatically the better value. Confirm the region, actual renewal bill and recovery workflow. BisectHosting publishes more detailed backup-manager controls and a 21-location claim, but the current selector did not provide a price or orderable configuration in our check. If its price and location matter to your decision, ask for a current quote and keep the result pending until it arrives.

For a managed third option, Game Hosting’s Valheim plans list 4 GB for $11.99, 6 GB for $16.99 and 8 GB for $21.99 per month, with named Ryzen 9 9900X hardware, DDR5, NVMe storage and an integrated panel. Its published panel includes backup scheduling, restore, download and lock controls. Compare those documented details with your crew’s requirements; this is not a claim that the service will outperform either competitor or that we tested a restore.

Whichever route you choose, move only after someone owns the world export, billing account and recovery steps. A useful decision can be conditional: proceed when the quote, platform path and world controls fit; wait when a critical price or access question is still unanswered. A documented feature can narrow a shortlist, but the crew’s own join and recovery checks decide whether the world is ready to move.

Quick answers

Does the cheaper introductory offer decide the comparison?

No. Compare the amount due now, renewal price, billing period, taxes and cancellation terms. Shockbyte lists monthly prices, but this review did not submit a checkout; BisectHosting did not render a current price in its selector.

Does a crossplay toggle guarantee every console can join?

No. Valheim crossplay is a game-side route, but the exact game build, platform rollout and host configuration still matter. Invite one player from each required platform before moving the shared world.

Can I compare RAM fairly when one offer has no visible quote?

Not from the current pages. Shockbyte labels RAM and suggested players; the current BisectHosting selector did not expose an amount or total. Request the same workload and monthly term before ranking plan value.

Do documented backup controls prove my world can be restored?

No. Documentation shows which controls a provider describes. A successful restore requires a separate test on a protected copy; none was performed for this comparison.
