7 Days to Die Crossplay Not Working: Check These Rules
If 7 Days to Die crossplay is not working, check server eligibility, game versions and player account settings before changing every setting at once.
You will need
- Access to the dedicated server settings
- A PC, PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X|S player in the group
- The edition and version shown on each device
If 7 Days to Die crossplay is not working, check the dedicated server before changing every player’s console settings. Console play depends on a short set of server requirements, a compatible game build and each player’s account permissions. First identify whether the crossplay control is off, the server is missing from search or just one person cannot join. Then test that specific path. The exact message “crossplay is temporarily disabled on this platform” has no published explanation from The Fun Pimps, so treat it as an unresolved symptom rather than proof of a server or platform fault.
Spot which part of crossplay failed#
The symptom tells you where to start, not what caused the failure. Write down who can connect and what they see before changing a setting; otherwise one successful retry will not tell you which change mattered.
| What happens | Check first | What it does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| The server’s crossplay option is off or unavailable | The dedicated server’s crossplay settings, EAC and installed mods | That the player’s account or game version is eligible |
| PC players can connect, but the console cannot find the server | Public listing, the supported console edition, name search and server eligibility | That the server is down; consoles use the in-game browser rather than a pasted IP |
| The console can see the server, but one account cannot join | Compatible game build and that account’s multiplayer or cross-network permissions | That the server needs different ports or a world reset |
| Every platform fails to connect | Whether the server is running and the broader multiplayer troubleshooting checklist | That this is a crossplay-only failure |
| One player sees “crossplay is temporarily disabled on this platform” | Record the exact platform, edition, build and which other players can join | The banner’s cause; TFP does not document this exact message |
A dedicated server’s ready state does not demonstrate that a console can discover or join it. Keep the server symptom separate from a device-specific message, and move to the matching check below.
Check the server settings consoles require#
The Fun Pimps lists four explicit dedicated-server values for cross-platform play: crossplay enabled, Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) enabled, no more than 8 player slots, and EOS sanctions not ignored. Its broader requirements also call for a public server, no mods and compatible current builds. These are separate conditions; the official help page does not call them “five rules.” See the current dedicated-server cross-platform requirements before editing a configuration file.
| Requirement | Official setting or check | Value for console crossplay |
|---|---|---|
| Crossplay | ServerAllowCrossplay |
true |
| Anti-cheat | EACEnabled |
true |
| Player slots | ServerMaxPlayerCount |
8 or fewer |
| EOS sanctions | IgnoreEOSSanctions |
false |
| Server discovery | Server listing | Public |
| Installed content | Mods | None |
| Client/server build | Current released versions | Compatible on every device |
Open the active server settings
Use the panel or the exact configuration source the server starts with. If you change a hosted panel field, save it and restart only if that panel says the setting applies on restart.
Check every eligibility condition
Confirm crossplay and EAC are on, slots do not exceed 8, EOS sanctions are not ignored, listing is public and the server has no mods. Check what the server is actually configured to run, not only what you intended to select.
Retest one affected console account
Have the player search by the server’s name in the game browser. Record whether the server is absent or visible but rejects the join; those results lead to different checks.
If server settings are the problem and you would rather not keep the fields in sync by hand, the Game Hosting 7 Days to Die panel has a crossplay switch that applies its integrated EAC, listing and eight-slot requirements together. The switch also turns off the panel’s integrated overhaul option; it cannot inspect or remove arbitrary files uploaded to the server’s Mods folder, so check those separately. This only addresses server configuration; it does not prove a console join or repair an account restriction.
Find a mod or SandboxCode value that makes consoles ineligible#
The current rule is simple: a console cannot join a modded server. That includes server-side XML modlets, even when console players do not install a matching file. A PC group can use a compatible mod, but it must choose a PC-only world. Do not assume that turning EAC back on makes a modded server eligible.
For V3, difficulty and several gameplay rules live in SandboxCode; old guides may show properties that no longer control those settings. Avoid copying a V1 or V2 serverconfig.xml block into a V3 server as a crossplay fix. Use the current server editor and TFP’s current requirements instead. If you recently switched to vanilla, inspect the active Mods directory as well as the panel’s mod selector: a manual upload can remain after an integrated option is removed.
If the server is vanilla and each listed requirement is already correct, leave the working settings alone and check the client versions next.
Match PC, PS5 and Xbox Series game versions#
Every player needs a compatible current edition and build. As of October 15, 2026, the latest stable announcement located from The Fun Pimps is V3.3.0 Stable, published October 5. The latest experimental announcement found was V3.3.0 EXP b18 on September 24; that announcement does not establish that the branch is still available or that a console can join it. For a mixed-platform group, use a released stable build that the server and all clients can share, and compare the full version shown on each device.
| Player’s game | Compare against | Next check |
|---|---|---|
| PC through Steam | Server’s released branch and build | Confirm the selected branch is the one the server runs |
| PlayStation 5 | Server and the other players’ current game version | Install the same current release; then search by server name |
| Xbox Series X|S | Server and the other players’ current game version | Install the same current release; then search by server name |
Do not treat the old 2016 Xbox One or PS4 game as the current console edition just because it is running on newer hardware. Those legacy releases are separate from the current PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S game. The platform and edition guide covers which versions can share a server.
Check a player’s account when the exact banner appears#
The message “crossplay is temporarily disabled on this platform” is not explained in The Fun Pimps’ current crossplay requirements or the official notes reviewed for this guide. A 2024 forum report repeats similar wording but does not include an official diagnosis. Do not read the banner as proof that PSN, Xbox services, EAC or the server setting is responsible.
You can still do generic account checks when the other evidence points to one player. Microsoft separates permission to join multiplayer games from permission to join cross-network play; a family organizer may manage both for a child account. On PlayStation, privacy settings include who can receive crossplay game invitations, which matters when the player is joining by invitation. Those documents describe account controls, not a confirmed fix for this 7 Days to Die banner. Check the relevant permission for the way that player is joining, then compare with another allowed account or device if one is available.
If the same banner remains, save a screenshot and note the platform, exact edition, full game build, whether the server is visible, and whether another player can enter. Use current game or platform support for the unresolved message. This narrows the report without asking you to toggle unrelated settings or claiming an untested fix. Refer to Microsoft’s multiplayer and cross-network permissions and PlayStation privacy settings for the account controls themselves.
Test visibility and joining in the right order#
A PC connection is a useful comparison, but it does not certify console eligibility. PC players can try the server through Join a Game and Connect to IP when the server allows direct connection. Current console players search by the server name in the in-game browser; an IP typed into the PC connection form is not a console test.
Check the current edition and build
Compare the PC, console and server versions. Do this before changing firewall rules or reinstalling a save.
Confirm the server’s full eligibility
Recheck crossplay, EAC, eight slots or fewer, public listing, no mods and
IgnoreEOSSanctions=false.Compare one PC and one console result
If PC connects but the console server is absent, keep the server name and public listing in focus. If the console sees it but only one account fails, check that account’s permissions and game build.
Save the evidence before another change
Record the platform, exact error, server visibility, who can join and what you changed. That gives support a reproducible symptom instead of a list of unrelated toggles.
A server process reaching its ready state does not confirm listing, cross-platform eligibility or a successful player join. Keep those as separate observations; if a console cannot find a server that otherwise meets the requirements, follow the platform-specific listing steps when available instead of changing every setting again.
Hand off to the page that owns the remaining symptom#
When the server checks pass, keep the remaining problem narrow. Use the crossplay platform and edition matrix to confirm the group’s game versions. If the issue is broader than crossplay, return to the multiplayer troubleshooting hub. For a single Xbox friend who cannot join, continue with the Xbox join checklist. A group choosing hosting can compare the server-side setup in our crossplay server hosting guide.
Make one change, repeat the same test and record the result. If only one player still sees the undocumented banner after the server and version checks pass, keep the evidence and ask game or platform support; the current sources do not establish a more specific cause.
Quick answers
Why isn't my crossplay working on Xbox?
First check the server’s crossplay eligibility and compatible game version. If other players can join but one Xbox account cannot, check that account’s multiplayer and cross-network permissions; no single cause fits every failure.
Does one mod really break 7 Days to Die crossplay?
Yes. The current dedicated-server requirements exclude modded servers from console crossplay, including servers with a mod that only changes XML.
Can you crossplay 7 Days to Die on PC and PS4?
The current crossplay edition is on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The 2016 PS4 and Xbox One release is a separate legacy game.
