You will need

  • A Discord community and permission to manage its roles and channels
  • Someone responsible for the Palworld server and its save
  • Your usual play windows and a rough count of players online together

The official Palworld Discord server is Pocketpair’s shared community for Palworld and Craftopia: join with the verified invite. If you are setting up a separate Discord for your own Palworld group, the server can coordinate a persistent game world, but Discord roles do not automatically grant game access or admin powers. This guide gives you a practical role plan, five rules to agree on, a safer way to share server status, and a method to estimate capacity from who actually plays at the same time.

Find the official Palworld Discord#

The official Palworld Discord is Pocketpair’s Pocketpair - Craftopia, Palworld community at discord.gg/pocketpair. Pocketpair’s pinned official Discord post on Steam points to that invite, and Discord identifies the destination as its official server for both games. The current invite redirects to Discord’s invite page for Pocketpair.

  1. Open the Pocketpair invite

Use discord.gg/pocketpair. Before accepting, check that Discord shows the Pocketpair server name. Search results also show community-run servers, including the r/Palworld Discord; those can be useful places to find other players, but they are not Pocketpair’s official server.

  2. Select the Palworld role

After joining, open the role-selection channel and choose Palworld to reveal the Palworld-specific channels. If those channels do not appear, check that you completed the server’s role selection instead of joining a different community invite.

The official server is a place to follow Pocketpair’s community and talk about its games. It is separate from a private Discord you create for coordinating your own dedicated server. If what your group needs is a plain-language comparison of co-op and dedicated worlds, start with how Palworld multiplayer fits together.

Give Discord staff only the roles they need#

A Discord moderator and a Palworld server administrator are different jobs. Discord roles control permissions in the Discord server; Palworld uses its own AdminPassword and game admin commands. Giving someone a Discord title such as “Admin” does not authorize that person to change the Palworld world.

Start with a small role list and only add permissions for a named task. Discord’s roles and permissions guide explains that the role hierarchy affects who can manage whom. Its Administrator permission grants every Discord permission and bypasses channel restrictions, so keep it with the owner and anyone who truly needs full control.

Discord role Give it access to Keep it away from
Owner All community channels and server settings Sharing account credentials with the group
Moderator The moderation queue and member tools they need Palworld admin credentials by default
Member Game schedule, rules, status, and chat Staff-only channels and server secrets

Make the roles in Server Settings → Roles, then check the permissions for the role and each private channel. Discord recommends creating roles, configuring their permissions, and assigning them to members; use the Discord permission setup guide if a channel is still visible to the wrong group.

Before inviting the whole group, test with one member account. Confirm that a member can read the rules and status channels, a moderator can handle the agreed Discord reports, and neither receives a password or permission they do not need. Keep Palworld moderation commands with the people who separately have the game’s admin access.

Write five rules before sharing the server password#

Write down who may join, what players may do, and how admins will handle disputes before the world becomes valuable. This is a community policy, not a Pocketpair-mandated rule set. A short #server-rules channel and a pinned message are easier to use than a long discussion buried in general chat.

Rule to agree on Decide this before launch
Invitations Who can invite someone, and whether members must ask first
PvP and griefing Whether PvP is on, and what counts as damaging another player’s base or progress
Builds and shared areas Which spaces are shared, and how players reserve or remove structures
Moderation Who reviews a report, what actions are possible, and where someone can appeal
World care Who owns backups, how maintenance is announced, and what happens if the operator leaves

Treat the Palworld ServerPassword as a shared key, not as an individual Discord identity check. The official configuration reference describes it as the password required to log in; it does not document a connection that automatically maps Discord roles to Palworld players. Changing who can read a Discord channel therefore does not by itself prove that an old game credential stopped working.

Keep AdminPassword somewhere private and distinct from the player password. Never paste it into a general or staff Discord channel just because the moderators are trusted there. When the group needs tighter access, follow the documented Palworld server controls; a complete whitelist setup is a separate topic. Keep Discord channel membership and game access as separate checks until you have tested the actual join and removal process. A test account should confirm your actual join and removal process before you rely on it.

Add a status bot without exposing server controls#

A bot can post whether the world is reachable and how many players are online, but connecting Discord to Palworld adds another credential and data path to protect. Pocketpair’s REST API documentation includes player and metrics endpoints. The player response can contain account names, player IDs, user IDs, and IP addresses, so a public status post should not dump the full response.

Use a status tool only after checking that its source and current Palworld version are suitable for your setup. Keep the API endpoint on a private route such as the same machine or trusted LAN; Pocketpair’s REST API introduction and security notes advise against exposing it directly to the public internet. Do not open the API port to make a bot “easier” to connect unless you understand and have secured that route.

A safe status workflow looks like this:

  1. Enable the REST API only if the chosen status integration needs it, then restart the server according to its documentation.
  2. Keep its authentication secret in the bot host’s private configuration. Never put it in a Discord message, screenshot, public repository, or bot command output.
  3. Limit the bot’s Discord permissions to the status channel and the ability to update its own message. Review its requested permissions before adding it.
  4. Publish a simple result such as Online · 6 players, not IP addresses, account names, or player identifiers.
  5. Test with the API unreachable and with the server stopped so the message does not keep showing stale “online” data.

Discord’s app installation guide shows how to review an app’s requested access. If you cannot keep the API private or do not trust a bot’s owner with the information it can read, post status manually. A pinned “server online” message is less clever and much safer than accidentally publishing the admin credential.

Size the Palworld server by peak players#

Estimate server size from the number of people who play at once, not how many people joined your Discord. Member totals do not establish a reliable concurrency rate: this research found no source for the planned claim that a 200-member community typically has 8–16 players online. Record actual attendance across your busiest sessions and adjust once you have a real peak.

Palworld’s Steam store listing states that dedicated servers list a 32-player maximum. That is a configured maximum, not a promise that every 32-player world will run well. Bases, world activity, and server resources still matter; keep the number as a ceiling while you track your group’s use.

Observed group A plan recommendation to compare What to verify
Up to about 8 online Squad, 8 GB; recommendation for 8 players Whether your busiest sessions stay near that count
About 9–16 online Party, 12 GB; recommendation for 16 players Whether the world and server resources suit the group
About 17–32 online Clan, 16 GB; recommendation for 32 players A 32-player ceiling is not a guarantee of performance

These are the current plan recommendations shown on the Palworld plans page, not measurements of your world. Game Hosting’s live capacity endpoint currently reports open:false, and the plans page presents a waitlist; treat it as availability information, not immediate provisioning. If your group would rather not maintain a home machine and network, check availability before making plans around a managed server. If your four-player co-op world and shared schedule already work, there is no need to move it just because your Discord is growing.

Announce maintenance and confirm the server is back#

Use Discord to tell players what will happen to their Palworld world and when they can expect to return. A scheduled restart is not automatically required every day. Plan maintenance around a game update, a change you need to apply, or a problem you have actually observed; do not promise that a calendar restart will fix an unverified performance issue.

Pick one announcement channel and make the message include the expected start time and time zone, the reason, and whether the server will be unavailable. For example: “Maintenance starts Sunday at 8:00 PM ET for the Palworld update. Please log out before then; I’ll post here when the server is back and tested.” If your group spans time zones, name the zone rather than writing only “tonight.”

After maintenance, verify the server process is running and have one player reconnect before posting that the world is ready. If a patch changes the game version, check Pocketpair’s current official announcements and confirm that the clients can join the server before telling everyone to return. A bot’s green status indicator is useful, but it does not prove that the right world loaded or that a player can join.

Assign one person to post the completion message and another person to contact if the operator is away, if possible. Keep a copy of the world and know who can restore it before making a risky change. Once the community has a clear owner, access rules, and a tested return path, Discord becomes the noticeboard around the server instead of the only place anyone knows what is happening.

Quick answers

Is there an official Palworld Discord?

Yes. Pocketpair’s official invite is https://discord.gg/pocketpair. Choose the Palworld role in its role-selection channel to see Palworld-specific channels.

How do you run a Palworld server for a Discord community?

Run a dedicated server for a persistent shared world, then assign Discord staff roles, agree on access and moderation rules, and tell members where to find status and maintenance updates.

How many people can join a Palworld server at once?

Palworld’s official store lists a 32-player dedicated-server maximum, but that is a configured ceiling, not a performance recommendation. Size around your actual peak and server resources.
