You will need

  • Palworld on PS5 and online-play access
  • The provider's current Palworld plan and billing terms
  • A friend who can confirm server settings after setup

Palworld PS5 server hosting means a dedicated world runs on a supported PC or remote server that a PS5 can join through the in-game Community list. The PS5 is a client; it does not run the dedicated-server software. Before you pay, confirm the provider supports the Community route, lets you control the settings your group needs, explains capacity and save access, and shows the renewal terms. This is a buyer checklist, not another setup walkthrough; the PS5 server guide covers the configuration and controller join flow.

Understand what Palworld PS5 server hosting means#

For a mixed-platform Palworld group that does not want one friend’s PC to be the host, we recommend Game Hosting. The integrated game panel keeps configuration and restarts together with three free backup slots; the game’s joining and version requirements still apply to every player.

“PS5 server hosting” usually means a server that PS5 players can join, not a server process running on the console. Pocketpair lists Windows 64-bit and Linux 64-bit as dedicated-server environments. A rental provider runs the machine remotely; a friend can also run a server on a supported PC. Either route can give the group a persistent world while its operator keeps the server available.

World type Where it runs What to expect
PS5 co-op session A player’s game session The host has to be playing for the world to be available; it is not a separate dedicated server.
Home dedicated server A supported Windows or Linux PC Someone in the group manages the machine, updates, network access, and save.
Rented dedicated server A provider’s remote machine You pay recurring charges and must confirm PS5 Community-list support, settings access, and save terms.

A dedicated server is useful when friends want to play at different times or do not want the PS5 owner to be the session host. If your group already has a PC owner willing to keep the world running, compare that route before buying anything. The full Palworld hosting guide compares the broader choices; the dedicated-server guide explains how the server can be run.

The word “PS5-compatible” on a plan page still needs a specific answer: can the server be listed where PS5 players browse, and can the provider configure the required platform settings? A generic Palworld listing or a high slot count does not answer either question. Ask those before you move a save or invite the group.

Confirm the provider supports the Community server list#

PS5 players join Palworld dedicated servers through the in-game Community server list. They cannot use the direct IP-and-port flow described for some PC clients. Pocketpair’s server overview distinguishes community servers from regular dedicated servers, and its community-server instructions describe publishing a server to that list.

For a self-run server, Steam provides an “Open and start as a community server” option; direct executable startup uses -publiclobby. With a rental, you may not get access to the raw startup command. Ask the provider which current setting turns on Community listing, whether it applies to PS5 clients, and how you can confirm that the server actually appears after it restarts. A checkbox, label, or sales-page claim is not the same as a successful test from a PS5 account.

Ask before checkout What a clear answer should identify
Can PS5 players join this plan? The Palworld Community server list, not just PC direct connect.
How is the Community listing enabled? A current panel control, documented support procedure, or the exact server option it configures.
How do I verify it worked? The server’s visible name in the Community browser after the change and restart.

If the provider says only “Palworld supported,” ask the PS5 question again in writing. If it cannot explain how a console client finds the server, do not assume you can solve that later by opening a port. The PS5 configuration guide has the technical steps after you know the plan supports the route.

Check which Palworld controls you can manage#

A provider does not need to show every INI field in a panel, but you need a reliable way to set and verify the values your group depends on. Pocketpair’s current configuration guide lists CrossplayPlatforms with Steam, Xbox, PS5, and Mac in its default value. It also documents ServerName and ServerPassword for the server listing and access.

Control Why a PS5 group cares Ask the host
CrossplayPlatforms PS5 must be allowed alongside the group’s other platforms. Can I see or change the platform list, and does your default include PS5?
ServerName Friends need to find the intended entry in the Community browser. Where do I set the name, and when does it appear after saving?
ServerPassword A password prompt can block a first join if the group was not given the value. Is a password optional, and where can I rotate it?
Community listing PS5 uses the in-game list. Which setting enables it, and does it need a server restart?

Ask whether changes require a restart and whether the panel preserves unrelated settings. If a support agent must make the change, find out how to request it and how you will confirm the result. Do not replace an entire OptionSettings=(...) line with a three-setting example: the file contains other values that affect the world, and a malformed line can make settings fall back to defaults. Our free settings checker shows why your Palworld settings aren’t applying. Older guides may mention AllowConnectPlatform; current Pocketpair docs direct server owners to CrossplayPlatforms instead.

A good answer is a repeatable process, not a vague promise that “cross-play is supported.” After the plan is running, one PS5 player should confirm that the listing is visible and that the group can join with the intended name and password. See the Xbox hosting guide for a similar platform-specific checklist and E12 above for the PS5 setup details.

Match the plan to your real group size#

Do not read a provider’s slot count as a performance guarantee. A slot cap tells you how many connections the plan allows; it does not prove how a particular Palworld world will run with active bases, workers, and players online at the same time. Ask what memory is allocated, whether it is dedicated to your server, what the slot limit means, and how you can upgrade if your group grows.

Pocketpair’s server requirements list 16 GB of memory and 4+ CPU cores as recommendations. The same page says larger servers need more than 32 GB of memory and warns that 8 GB may start but has an out-of-memory crash risk. Those are general server recommendations, not a PS5-specific table that maps a certain plan to a certain number of friends. Do not turn them into a universal “RAM per player” formula.

Use these questions to compare offers without pretending that a label settles the issue:

Plan detail What to compare
Memory The amount actually allocated to Palworld, not a vague “high memory” claim.
Player slots The connection cap and any extra cost to raise it.
Upgrade path Whether you can add resources without losing the world or starting over.
Workload Whether your group plays together at peak time and how active its world is.

If two plans have different slot limits, compare the memory and operating terms as well. A larger advertised number is not automatically the better fit. Likewise, do not assume a plan described as “for PS5” has been tuned for a particular world or tested with your group’s concurrent player count. Ask the provider for the exact allocation and treat it as a provider statement unless you have your own test. For a starting estimate that isn’t tied to any provider, our Palworld server requirements tool sizes a server for your group; check it against a real session.

Ask how updates and version differences are handled#

A rented server still needs game updates. Ask who applies Palworld updates, whether the server restarts during an update, and how the provider announces planned maintenance. That is especially useful when one friend is ready to play on PS5 and another has not yet installed a console patch.

Do not demand identical version numbers as a universal cross-play rule. Pocketpair’s official platform-specific notices have said that particular PC updates would not negatively affect cross-play with other versions. Those notices are evidence about those releases, not a blanket promise for every future patch. The current patch may require compatible client and server builds even when the displayed version strings do not match exactly. Check the latest official announcements when a join error begins right after an update.

A provider should be able to tell you whether updates are automatic or manual, whether you can defer a restart, and where it posts maintenance notices. If the answer is unclear, ask how to protect the save before an update and how to check the server’s current build. The dedicated-server options guide covers broader administration choices; E12 focuses on what a PS5 player should check when joining.

Read backup, renewal, cancellation, and access terms#

A low first-month price is only one line in the decision. Before paying, record the initial charge, renewal amount, billing interval, cancellation deadline, and whether the plan can be changed without losing the world. Compare the total for the period you actually expect to play, not an introductory price against another provider’s recurring price.

Treat backups as a specific feature to verify. Ask how often the host creates one, how many are retained, whether you can download a copy, what a restore replaces, and what happens to the files if you cancel. “Automatic backups” does not tell you whether you can recover a particular save or move it to another provider. If you plan to upload an existing world, keep a separate copy until the PS5 player confirms the expected character and base are there. A co-op world also needs the host’s character fixed first, which our free co-op save converter does in your browser.

Also ask who controls panel access and how you can take your world with you. You should know whether the owner can download the save, whether files remain accessible after cancellation, and whether another group member can take over billing or administration. These are provider-specific contract and product details, not facts that can be inferred from Palworld’s compatibility documentation.

The Palworld hosting overview has a longer neutral provider checklist. Use it alongside the actual checkout page, because providers can change pricing, backup retention, cancellation rules, and plan availability. Keep a screenshot or copy of the terms you accepted so your group is not working from an old comparison article.

Check PS Plus and prove the server before inviting everyone#

A PS5 player needs an online-play entitlement separately from server hosting. The current US PlayStation Store listing says PS Plus is required for online play in Palworld. A server subscription does not replace the console account requirement, and buying PS Plus does not purchase the dedicated server.

Before the whole group starts a new world or migrates a save, test one connection from the PS5 account that will play. Confirm the provider has started the service, the Community listing is enabled, the configured server name is visible, and the password matches if one is set. Then have that PS5 player join and confirm they reached the intended world. If you see a version warning after a patch, check the announcement and the host’s update status before changing unrelated settings.

  1. Get the listing details from the server owner

Ask for the exact ServerName and whether a ServerPassword is set. Confirm that the provider reports the server as running after the last settings change.

  2. Check the PS5 Community entry

Open Palworld’s Community server browser and search for the exact name. If it is missing, ask the host to recheck Community listing and restart status before changing other settings.

  3. Join once before moving the group

Enter the password if the server asks for one, then confirm that your character loads into the intended world. Use the PS5 server setup and join walkthrough if you need the full controller flow.

A successful connection confirms that this account can reach this server at this moment; it does not establish a provider-wide uptime guarantee. If the server is absent for everyone, ask the provider to confirm the Community setting and current game build. If only a PS5 on the same home network fails, Pocketpair notes that some routers without Hairpin NAT cannot connect to their own public community server from inside that network; test from an external connection before concluding that the listing is broken.

Choose the PC route or confirm a live hosting offer#

If a friend already has a PC they can keep online and is comfortable maintaining it, the home-server route may be enough. It avoids a hosting bill but leaves that person responsible for power, network access, updates, and the save. If those chores are the reason you searched for hosting, compare a remote plan only after you have answers about PS5 Community listing, settings, capacity, backups, and billing.

For the managed route, we recommend Game Hosting’s Palworld plans for their integrated panel and free backups. Keep PS5 joining as a separate check: the server must use the Community-list route, and the imported world needs to be tested from the console before the group moves.

Choose this route when… Check this before you commit
A friend hosts from a PC The computer and connection can stay available, and the owner accepts maintenance responsibility.
You rent remote hosting The product supports Community listing for PS5, exposes or configures the controls, and gives you clear save and billing terms.
You only need a short co-op session The group’s host can be online when everyone plays; a dedicated-server rental may add cost without solving a real problem.

For the exact settings and PS5 controller steps, continue with the PS5 dedicated-server guide. For the wider choice between co-op, self-hosting, and a rental, start with Palworld server hosting options. Confirm the server-specific configuration for your console group.

Before you invite your friends, check that the intended world loaded and that each player can connect. If those checks pass, you're ready for a session; if you'd rather not keep a PC on, that's what we're here for.

Quick answers

Can you host a Palworld server on PS5?

No. A PS5 can join a dedicated server, but the server software runs on a supported PC or remote hosting infrastructure.

Can PS5 join Palworld dedicated servers?

Yes, if the server is published in the in-game Community list and allows PS5 cross-play. See the PS5 setup guide for the checks.

Do you need PS Plus to join a Palworld server?

The US PlayStation Store currently says PS Plus is required for online play. That is separate from paying for server hosting.
