Dual-element Pals: every pair in the game

A Pal with two elements multiplies both: an attack that one element resists and the other is weak to does normal damage, and two resistances make ×¼. No pair in the game is weak twice to the same element, so nothing takes ×4. 27 pairs, 87 Pals.

Quick answers

What is the Palworld type chart?

Nine elements in two chains, the same as the in-game Survival Guide: Fire beats Grass, Grass beats Ground, Ground beats Electric, Electric beats Water and Water beats Fire; and Fire beats Ice, Ice beats Dragon, Dragon beats Dark and Dark beats Neutral. Fire is the only element strong against two; Neutral is strong against none.

What is each element weak to?

Neutral is weak to Dark; Fire is weak to Water; Water is weak to Electric; Grass is weak to Fire; Electric is weak to Ground; Ice is weak to Fire; Ground is weak to Grass; Dark is weak to Dragon; Dragon is weak to Ice. Use the counter finder above for any Pal or boss.

How much damage does a weakness do in Palworld?

An attack against the element it beats does double damage (×2). Against the element that beats it, and against its own element, it does half (×0.5); Neutral attacks are never reduced. A move of the Pal’s own element adds 20%. What counts is the move’s element, not the Pal’s, so a Fire Pal using a Neutral move gets no Fire bonus.

How do dual-element Pals work?

Both elements count and the multipliers multiply. Strong against one and resisted by the other cancels out to normal damage; two resistances make ×0.25 (23 Pals have one, like Fuack Ignis against Fire). No Pal in 1.0.5 is weak twice to the same element, so nothing takes ×4.

What is Neutral weak to in Palworld?

Dark: Dark attacks do double damage to Neutral Pals. It is one-way: Neutral attacks do normal damage to Dark Pals, because Neutral attacks are never reduced against any element, Neutral included.

Did Palworld 1.0 change the type chart?

No. The element chart in the 1.0.5 game files is the same cycle as in early access, the +20% same-element bonus is unchanged (1.2 in the game’s settings), and the 1.0 patch notes list no change to element damage. New 1.0 Pals simply add new element pairs.

What is the best Pal against Zoe and Grizzbolt?

Grizzbolt is Electric, so Ground Pals hit it for double damage and take half from its Electric attacks. The hardest-hitting Ground Pals you can catch: Anubis, Moldron, Moldron Cryst, Aegidron. For the level 10 fight, the ones found early: Pupperai (from level 2), Gumoss (from level 2), Rushoar (from level 5), Hangyu (from level 9), Dumud (an alpha at level 14). Pick “Rayne Syndicate Boss Zoe & Grizzbolt” in the finder for the full list, with where to catch each one.

Where does this data come from?

Which element beats which, the element icons and the 20% bonus are read from the Palworld 1.0.5 game files. Palworld works out element damage in its compiled code, not in a data table, so the ×2 and ×0.5 values are the community-tested ones. Pals, stats, moves and bosses are for 1.0.5; alpha locations from our interactive map.
