Mutated eggs: odds, cakes and what hatches

Every egg a Breeding Farm makes has a small chance to be mutated. A mutated egg hatches another Pal than the pair’s usual child, picked from a range of breeding power set by the parents. It comes with IVs of 90 to 100, 2 condenser stars and a passive only mutation gives (Babysitter, Heavily Armored, Immortality, Idiosyncratic, Sky Strider). 143 Pals can hatch from a mutated egg: the rarer ones, with a breeding power of 1,860 or lower. The commonest Pals (like Lamball and Cattiva), legendaries, raid and tower Pals and Terraria monsters never do.

For example, Lamball + Cattiva normally make Daedream, but their mutated eggs hatch one of 27 Pals, most often Tarantriss (5.4%) and Slowatt (5.4%).

CakeMutated eggsWhat it does
Cake1 in 1001% of eggs mutate, no other effect.
Mushroom Cake1 in 1001% of eggs mutate, +1–5 to the egg’s IVs.
Vegetable Cake1 in 1001% of eggs mutate, 2 eggs per cake.
Extravagant Vegetable Cake1 in 333% of eggs mutate, +1–5 to the egg’s IVs.
Special Cake1 in 1001% of eggs mutate, the egg inherits 4 of its parents’ passives.

Odds and the Pals each pair can hatch use Palworld 1.0 client data. Each egg rolls on its own: 1% per egg is about 100 eggs on average, 69 for a 50% chance.

How to breed every Pal

Every Pal’s page has all the pairs that make it, the easiest first, the special combos, what it breeds into, the shortest chain from early Pals and where to catch each parent.

Quick answers

How does Palworld breeding work?

Every Pal has a hidden breeding power (CombiRank). Two parents of different species make the Pal whose power is closest to the average of theirs, rounded up; a tie goes to the Pal the game ranks first. Two Pals of the same species always make that species. Special combos override the formula, and some Pals (most legendaries, raid and tower bosses) only come from two of their own kind. One parent must be male and the other female; level, passives and which one is the mother don’t change the species.

What are the easiest breeding combos?

The ones whose parents you can catch early. The calculator sorts every pair by its parents’ lowest wild level, so the first pairs listed are the quickest to set up. For example, Anubis comes from 234 pairs; the easiest is Blazamut + Dualith.

Does gender matter in Palworld breeding?

You always need one male and one female. For almost every pair, which parent is male changes nothing. Katress and Wixen are the exception: a female Katress with a male Wixen makes Katress Ignis, and a male Katress with a female Wixen makes Wixen Noct. The calculator shows the gender a combo needs.

What is a breeding chain (breeding tree)?

When no Pal you have can make your target directly, you breed toward it: the egg of one pair becomes a parent in the next. The Breeding chain tab finds the fewest breeds from the Pals you catch in the first hours, from your own Pals or from any Pal you pick, and the partners that are easiest to catch.

Can I breed legendary Pals like Jetragon or Frostallion?

Not from other Pals. 26 Pals only come from two of their kind, including Jetragon, Frostallion, Paladius, Necromus and Shadowbeak. Catch one (or two), then breed a male and a female.

How do I get the passives I want on a bred Pal?

Each egg inherits passives from both parents at random. To plan which parents carry which passives, use the Breeding path: pick the Pal and up to four passives and it finds the shortest route from your own Pals (it can read your world in your browser).

What are mutated eggs and what do they hatch?

In Palworld 1.0 about 1 in 100 Breeding Farm eggs is mutated (1 in 33 with Extravagant Vegetable Cake). A mutated egg hatches another Pal than the pair’s usual child, picked from a range of breeding power set by the parents, with IVs of 90 to 100, 2 condenser stars and a passive only mutation gives. Pick two parents and the calculator lists every Pal their mutated egg can hatch, with its share; the Mutations tab finds the pairs whose mutated eggs hatch the Pal you want.

Which cake is best for mutations?

Extravagant Vegetable Cake: it raises each egg’s mutation chance from 1% to 3% and adds 1 to 5 points to the egg’s IVs. Vegetable Cake makes two eggs per cake, each at 1%. Mushroom Cake only adds IV points, and Special Cake makes the egg inherit four of its parents’ passives. Eggs found in the world never mutate.

Can my server help with breeding?

Yes. On a Game Hosting Palworld server (from $16.99/mo) the panel reads your world every 10 minutes: pick the Pal you want and it tells you which two of your Pals to put in the Breeding Farm, and what to catch first.
